Cannabis Retail Locations
Saturday marked another first for the New Jersey cannabis industry – the grand opening of the Garden State's first standalone retail dispensary, Earth & Ivy, in New Brunswick.
Earth & Ivy is not a medical treatment center and can’t fulfill state Medicinal Cannabis Program orders from doctors, but medical marijuana patients will receive a discount.
The path has been cleared to develop a vacant lot in the heart of Downtown Jersey City into a standalone recreational cannabis dispensary as a business called Bud Space has been green lit for a corner of Newark Avenue.
During their May 9 meeting, Jersey City’s planning board approved an application at 270 Newark Avenue. The lot has been empty since 2018 when then-owner KABR Group tore down a historic building at the property in a seemingly sudden manner.
Earth & Ivy, a recreational dispensary founded by three student-athlete alumni from the University of Pennsylvania, is set to open its doors in New Brunswick.
Located at 355 George St., the storefront will begin welcoming customers May 20 following a 9:45 a.m. ribbon-cutting ceremony.
The cannabis enterprises given a green light to open via resolutions are: Enlighten Health and Wellness LLC, which Township Manager Robert Corrales told the Pine Barrens Tribune is planning to set up shop at the old Marlton Diner building on Route 70; and Highway 90 LLC, the proposed location of which will be a former ReMax building off Route 73 just south of where it intersects with Route 70, Corrales said.
Valley Wellness in Raritan, a certified Woman Owned Business Enterprise, is expanding to offer adult-use cannabis sales beginning on Wednesday.
"All of the work that it took to make this happen, behind the scenes, was intense. Even though we were serving medical patients already, we still had to submit an application to the State, draft new SOP's, make it onto the Agenda, and get approved by the Commission. These are not small feats. So, today is one me and the Team will remember, no doubt!" said founder Sarah Trent, who lives in Morris County.
A new cannabis dispensary is set to open in Mt Laurel this summer, bringing a new era of elevated cannabis shopping experiences to the area. The dispensary, located at 1134 Rt 73 Mt Laurel, NJ, will be owned and operated by Jessy Vikani, a pharmacist and New Jersey resident with a passion for community outreach.
It seemed appropriate, as one board member remarked heading to the parking lot after adjournment, that the two applicants who appeared before the Plainfield Planning Board Thursday did so on April 20, or 420. The board voted in favor of preliminary and final site plan approval for both a cannabis cultivation and manufacturing facility, as well as a retail location on South Avenue near Terrill Road.
The cultivation facility will be located at 1309-1645 West Front Street, encompassing over 130,000 sq. feet.
The race to open Jersey City first cannabis dispensary and consumption lounge just got a bit more interesting as local approvals have been fully obtained for yet another pot-related business.
Jersey Digs broke the news about the planned The Other Side dispensary and lounge last summer. An application was submitted to transform a vacant property at 36 Congress Street, an address that is locally famous for the retro “lowe-t prices” ghost sign that adorns the side of the building.
The Mount Laurel Township Zoning Board unanimously approved a variance Wednesday night from Naavi Realty, who is requesting to open a cannabis retail store named Nirvana Dispensary at 1134 Route 73.
The Zoning Board also unanimously approved a minor site plan for the company at the same meeting.
