NJ marijuana legalization: Top NJ Democrat says legal weed vote needs to happen now
New Jersey's top-ranking lawmaker wants to vote this month on a bill to legalize recreational marijuana in the state, according to reports.
State Senate President Stephen Sweeney believes the longer it takes to vote on the bill, the harder it will be for the measure to pass.
There is just one problem: no bill has been formally introduced.
Sweeney, state Assembly Speaker Craig Coughlin, and Gov. Phil Murphy have at least ended months of disagreement by reaching a deal on what the bill would look like, according to reports.
