Anthony V. Minniti believes that in October he will open a first anywhere: a cannabis dispensary under the same roof as a pharmacy.
Minniti, who since 1997 has operated the Bell Rexall Pharmacy at Haddon and Kaighn avenues in Camden, on Friday, August 18, had his recreational marijuana license approved at a meeting of the New Jersey Cannabis Regulatory Commission.
The previous owners of the 92-year-old pharmacy had two addresses in one building, 1201 and 1205 Haddon Avenue. Minniti's cannabis dispensary will open at one address and be separated from the pharmacy by a wall and a door, he told TAPinto Camden on Friday afternoon.
Camden Apothecary, the sister store of the pharmacy, is the first cannabis retailer in Camden to secure its annual license from the state and likely will be the first to open.
"We really want to focus on the medical patient," said Minniti, but the recreational marijuana user will be part of the customer base, he added. "Nowhere do we have a pharmacy and a cannabis dispensary that function together under one roof," he said.
