One of those additional looks involves Daylite Cannabis, a company that received the Council’s support in December. In March, the company also received Mount Laurel Township Zoning Board’s approval to establish a retail operation at 1136 State Route 73 South. The New Jersey Cannabis Regulatory Commission has since approved Daylite Cannabis’ application, which would allow owner Steve Cassidy to move closer to opening his retail shop.
A copy of the tentative agenda for Tuesday evening’s Council meeting obtained by TAPinto.net Mount Laurel the Friday before the meeting indicated that the Council intended to discuss and take the first vote on a resolution to withdraw the Township’s support for Daylite Cannabis. A second vote would be taken at a future Council meeting, presumably its July meeting, to memorialize the vote.
However, the final version of the Council’s agenda, which TAPinto.net received immediately before the start of Tuesday evening’s meeting, did not mention any such resolution. In addition, a Google search of Daylite Cannabis Mount Laurel conducted by a TAPInto.net reporter on Wednesday afternoon found the business is listed as “temporarily closed.”
“There are some security issues,” Mount Laurel Township Solicitor George Morris told TAPinto Mount Laurel, when asked why Daylight Cannabis was back on the Township Council’s radar.
