The Red Bank Planning Board of Adjustment rejected at their Monday night meeting the borough’s incomplete cannabis zoning law as it did not meet the requirements of the Master Plan. The Board approved the Master Plan in early February.
Asked by Board Chair Dan Mancuso to provide a “run down” on what they were reviewing. Community Development Director Shawna Ebanks, said, “…, the amendments to this ordinance actually add conditional use standards for the retail businesses, while also removing certain (cannabis) classes from certain zones. It also adds distances, because the existing ordinance did not have any distances, based on streets which cannabis retailers can be located.”
Board Chair Dan Mancuso replied that, “This essentially clarifies the existing ordinance.”
As always, Mancuso succinctly laid out that their objective saying, “Our job in referencing ordinances for the mayor and council is to declare whether they are, or are not in violation of the Master Plan. That’s our only job.”
