With governmental approvals secured at the state and local level in the last two weeks of October, the Altus cannabis business, a medical dispensary, is expected to open in Flemington in early 2022.
The New Jersey Cannabis Regulatory Commission (CRC) granted the permit on Oct. 15, and a letter regarding their favorable Final Agency Decision was part of the borough council’s agenda packet material for Oct. 25. The state permit application was originally filed by Altus in August 2019.
Altus New Jersey had previously applied to the state for the permit to open at the Shoppes at Flemington in 2018, but in that round the company was a runner-up. The next year, the company reapplied and, after a major delay caused by litigation on the state’s end, the approval came down.
As a condition of the state CRC granting the permit, local government approval was required and the business had to obtain that within the immediate time frame.
