The Borough Council will hold a public hearing early next month to discuss whether it will ban all forms of recreational marijuana businesses.
The hearing will focus on an amendment to the borough's zoning law, and being done, officials said, to keep all options open.
Borough Attorney John Ursin said that under the state law which set up rules for legal sale of marijuana and its products, municipalities have 180 days to institute bans within their jurisdictions. The ban can be for one type of business, such as a growing operation, but allow other forms such as retail sale or processing.
If the deadline for local action expires, towns cannot take any action to ban a marijuana-related business for five years.
"This (ordinance) is to ban all shapes and sizes of cannabis business," the attorney told the council.
