Joy Strand has joined Frederick-based Green Leaf Medical as its new executive vice president, three months after stepping down as executive director of the state’s medical cannabis commission.
Green Leaf, known also by its gLeaf brand, announced Strand’s hire Thursday. She started on New Year’s Day and is now in charge of managing government relations for the company.
Philip Goldberg, CEO of the cannabis firm that also does business in Virginia, Ohio and Pennsylvania, said Strand’s “background in healthcare and patient safety, coupled with her expertise in organizational leadership will offer significant contributions to gLeaf as we continue to provide high-quality medical cannabis, and as our business continues to expand.”
The firm operates a 45,000-square-foot cultivation facility in Frederick and a processing lab in Bishopville, producing cannabis flower and concentrate products. It has also applied for a vertical license — allowing it to grow, process and dispense the drug — in New Jersey.
