The Borough Council turned down an opportunity to take a stand against legalizing marijuana sales -- not because they favor legal sales -- but because as a council, they still needed to know the final form of legislation pending at the state level.
During his turn to speak during Monday's council meeting, Mayor Paul Marino talked about attending a drug seminar/roundtable discussion during the recent New Jersey Conference of Mayors convention.
He said he came away from that believing that if legalized, "we'll be seeing more potent marijuana that what you can get on the streets."
He mentioned candies and other edible marijuana products that don't leave the distinctive odor of burning, making it harder for police to detect drugged driving.
