njlegalize.me is operated by Legalize Media. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using this site, you agree to the practices described here.
1. Information We Collect
Account Information
When you create an account, we collect:
- Name and email address
- Password (stored as a one-way hash — we cannot read it)
- Optional profile information (bio, social links, interests)
Event and Business Submissions
When you submit an event or claim a business listing, we collect the content you provide: event details, venue information, business descriptions, photos, and contact information. This content may be published publicly on the site.
Usage Information
We automatically collect standard web server logs, including:
- IP address and general location
- Browser type and device information
- Pages visited and actions taken on the site
- Date and time of visits
Payment Information
Paid features (such as event boosts) are processed by PayPal. We do not store your credit card number, bank account details, or any payment credentials on our servers. PayPal's own privacy policy governs how your payment data is handled.
2. Third-Party Data Sources
Business listings in our directory are enriched with data from the Google Places API, including business names, addresses, phone numbers, websites, photos, and hours of operation. This information is sourced from Google's public business database and stored locally on our servers to avoid repeated API calls. If you are a business owner and believe your listing contains incorrect Google Places data, contact us at support@njlegalize.me.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use collected information to:
- Operate the site and deliver the services you request
- Review and publish submitted events and business claims
- Send transactional emails (account confirmation, event status updates)
- Respond to support requests
- Prevent spam, fraud, and abuse
- Understand how the site is used so we can improve it
- Comply with applicable legal obligations
4. Information Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it with advertisers or data brokers. We may share information:
- With service providers who help us operate the site (hosting, email delivery, payment processing) — only to the extent necessary to perform those services
- When required by law or valid legal process
- To protect the rights, property, or safety of njlegalize.me, our users, or the public
5. Cookies
We use session cookies to keep you logged in and remember your preferences. We do not use third-party advertising cookies. You can disable cookies in your browser settings, but doing so will prevent you from staying logged in.
6. Data Security
We use industry-standard measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed passwords, and access controls. No system is perfectly secure — if you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately at support@njlegalize.me.
7. Your Rights
You can, at any time:
- Access or update your account information from your profile settings
- Request deletion of your account and associated data by emailing us
- Opt out of non-transactional emails using the unsubscribe link in any email we send
To exercise any of these rights, email support@njlegalize.me.
8. Age Requirement
njlegalize.me is intended exclusively for adults 21 years of age and older, consistent with New Jersey cannabis law. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 21. If we become aware that a user is under 21, we will delete their account.
