The public hearing and final adoption of Mendham Township's ordinance to prohibit any type of cannabis businesses within its borders, has been delayed until the Township Committee's next meeting on Monday, July 26.
Interim Township Administrator Bob Casey told Patch the ordinance - originally scheduled for a public hearing and final adoption this past Monday, July 12 - was referred back to the Planning Board for further review. Casey said on Thursday, the Planning Board will discuss it at their upcoming meeting.
The ordinance to prohibit recreational cannabis businesses of any type in Chester Borough that was up for adoption on June 15, has been delayed.
The public hearing and adoption are now on the schedule for the Tuesday, July 6 meeting.
Borough Mayor Janet Hoven said Friday the ordinance approval was set back for procedural reasons, with the borough needing to refer it to the Land Use Board and the County of Morris for another look.
Chester Township and Borough's governing bodies are weighing their options in permitting or prohibiting cannabis business operations within each of their municipalities.
On Tuesday night, an ordinance is up for adoption in Chester Township to disallow any type of cannabis business. Chester Borough will also introduce a similar ordinance on Tuesday night, should its ordinance committee give a green light before its council meeting.
