The first medical marijuana dispensary in the state, formerly Greenleaf Compassion Center, has reopened as Ascend, which is owned by multi-state cannabis operator Ascend Wellness Holdings.
Ascend officials said the redesigned dispensary has an expanded line of cannabis products and will be open for longer hours on more days of the week.
"The feedback from the original owner is that the product line was always lean; patients couldn't always get what they wanted," said CEO and founder Abner Kurtain.

If New Jersey approves the dispensary application, the Lightshade retail site will be only the second dispensary to open in Montclair and Lightshade’s first outside Colorado.

Lightshade was supported by CSG’s Cannabis Law Group on its application to operate a medical marijuana dispensary in Montclair as part of the New Jersey Department of Health’s 2019 RFA.
Montclair could be getting a second medical marijuana dispensary in the near future, with the backing of a business partnership that includes one of the children of reggae icon Bob Marley.
Rohan Marley, in partnership with the Colorado-based business Lightshade, has filed an application with the state for a license to operate a medical dispensary in Montclair.
If the application is approved, Lightshade Montclair would become the township’s second dispensary, and Lightshade’s first dispensary outside of Colorado.
Marley is partnering with Colorado-based dispensary Lightshade on the endeavor, and would help with marketing and hiring if their application is approved. The staunch advocate for cannabis legalization raised his children in South Orange, NorthJersey.com reported.
