Somerville will be a 'trailblazer' by allowing marijuana shops downtown
The county seat is taking the first steps to allowing in the downtown business district.
After a special public meeting on the marijuana issue on Thursday, the Borough Council is leaning toward allowing the shops though "there is still a lot of work to do," Mayor Dennis Sullivan said.
The council is expected to discuss the issue further at its May 17 meeting.
The borough will be a "trailblazer," Sullivan said, adding that Somerville has always been on "the cutting edge."
