The final medical marijuana dispensary licensed by New Jersey in 2018 can start growing cannabis, the state Health Department said Monday.
Justice Grown in Ewing received its permit to cultivate last week, the department said in a release. The brings the state total to 12.
While a dozen alternative treatment centers can now grow weed, only seven have permission to sell it. Two of the companies also have satellite dispensaries, for a total of nine storefronts.
Cannabis company TerrAscend Corp. (CSE: TER) TRSSF 1.02% announced Thursday that TerrAscend NJ, LLC has obtained a permit from the New Jersey Department of Health to grow medical cannabis.
Its cultivation permit was the second out of the six applicants selected by the state agency in December, the company said. Growing operations will start right away at its facility in Boonton Township, TerrAscend said.

TerrAscend Corp. The Phillipsburg Planning Board approved plans for a proposed marijuana dispensary Thursday. The dispensary may open on South Main Street by year's end.
The Apothecarium, owned by TerrAscend Corp. of Toronto, will occupy the vacant Phillipsburg Trust Company building at 55 S. Main St. Only New Jersey residents with prescriptions from state-approved physicians will be able to buy marijuana products there. The marijuana will be grown in Boonton, Morris County.
Efforts to legalize recreational marijuana use in New Jersey have stalled, but not efforts to keep a legal marijuana farm out of a suburban bedroom community in Morris County.
