Andy Zeitlin and Caryn Cohen, a Middletown husband and wife team and owners of Canopy Crossroads, LLC, will continue their application to open a cannabis retail outlet at 9 West Street, in an empty building adjoining Red Bank Liquors.
At a May 1 Planning Board meeting, several comments from the public focused on the location of the retail cannabis store, near the Red Bank Charter School that is within 1,000 feet of the proposed store.
This led to a response from Board attorney Michael Leckstein saying, “There is a zoning ordinance and there are certain areas in town where this is allowed. The question of the 1,000 feet (within a school zone), is a question of whether that is another condition, not in the zoning ordinance, but it’s based upon the old Federal rule that an illegal drug can’t be within 1,000 feet.”
Peter Wersinger, representing the Red Bank Corporate Center, 141 West Front Street, took issue that there was no detailed site plan documentation or parking analysis, and said planned on an “extended cross-examination,” of Zeitlin at (tonight’s), hearing.
Plug Naturals, LLC
Partners in Plug Naturals Garth Case, Jadis Montego and Rita Fielding will go before the Board seeking a minor site plan and conditional use approval to permit a retail cannabis sale and delivery store at 156 West Front Street, presently a single-family home.
