The Mount Laurel Township Planning Board approved on Thursday an application for Hempnotize to establish a cannabis shop at 4004 E. Church Road, the fourth such entity in recent months to receive the Board’s approval.
One Mount Laurel resident and business owner questioned some of Hempnotize’s plans. Ramik Shah, who owns the nearby Coastal Spine and Stride Physical Therapy, said at Thursday’s meeting that Hempnotize’s application was inconsistent with the New Jersey Cannabis Regulatory Commission requirement that cannabis shops be within 500 feet of medical businesses.
“I own the medical facility, and that’s a health care facility,” Shah said. “It is within 500 feet [of 4004 E.Church Road],” Shah said.
Joseph Mancini, an engineer retained by Hempnotize, responded that the requirement Shah brought up only applies to certain health care facilities, not all of them.
