The Red Bank council will hold a hybrid (online and in-person), regular meeting this Wednesday, April 26, 6:30pm, at Borough Hall, 90 Monmouth Street.
Highlights of the Agenda:
Cannabis Businesses Ordinance Amendment
At their April 12 meeting the council voted to pass an Ordinance to amend and establish requirements for cannabis business licensure procedures. A public hearing and adoption of the ordinance is scheduled.
The Red Bank Planning Board at their April 17 meeting, rejected the boroughs cannabis zoning law as it did not meet the requirements of the Master Plan.
The Planning Board agreed with attorney Michael Leckstein advising, “That the present borough ordinance is contrary to the Master Plan…, because it is inconsistent and is detrimental to economic development.”
The council could vote to adopt the ordinance overruling the Planning Board. To do so would require a supermajority vote, according to Leckstein.
