‘G’s Trees Cultivation Club’ is run by Luke McCann and his family in Red Bank. “It’s named after my cousin Greg, who we called ‘G.’ We saw the power of cannabis and what it can do for people who are sick,” said McCann.
“[Greg] passed away at the age of 16. That’s really why we started G’s Trees, in honor of him. Doctors kept giving him medicine, but cannabis was the only thing that he wanted to use, ultimately. And it brought us together as a family, which is really beautiful, in his last days,” said Katie Murison, co-owner of G’s Trees Cultivation Club.
The family say they invested hundreds of thousands of dollars to start the company. When they applied, Red Bank had approved a general framework for cannabis sales without giving out any licenses. On Wednesday night, the borough council will vote on an ordinance that would overhaul how cannabis is sold in Red Bank, restricting licenses to one cultivator and three retail shops for the borough.
