Veterans for Alternative Medicine South Jersey LLC got its conditional license from Trenton in March 2022. On Feb. 8, city planners approved the company’s design for a facility at 17 West Park Ave.
Blake J. Costa, a Rhode Island resident who owns the company, testified the company has studied odor control intensively since it was founded five years ago and opened a facility in his own state.
Costa told the city Planning Board the technology and protocol was “perfected” at that first facility, now at 20,000-square feet.
“Odor starts in the cannabis cultivation process when it’s going toward its final stage,” Costa said. “So, when it’s going toward the flowering.”
Costa said the 42,500-square-foot building designed for Vineland is engineered to reduce the ways air can enter or leave, as well as compartmented internally, and outfitted with insulation and filtration systems to capture odor.
