After narrowly securing an endorsement from the Hoboken City Council, Blue Violets LLC is one step closer towards opening what would be the city’s first-ever cannabis dispensary.
During its meeting Wednesday night, the council voted 5-4 in support of the application, which proposes a microbusiness at 628 Washington Street in an empty storefront.
Councilman Phil Cohen, Councilman James Doyle, Council Vice President Emily Jabbour, Councilman Joe Quintero and Council President Michael Russo backed the resolution, while Councilman Michael DeFusco, Councilwoman Tiffanie Fisher, Councilwoman Jen Giattino and Councilman Ruben Ramos were opposed.
Blue Violets, which already cleared the city’s Planning Board and Cannabis Review Board, can now pursue a license from the New Jersey Cannabis Regulatory Commission (CRC) to open its 850-square-foot shop.
