A South Jersey town is gearing up for adult recreational marijuana sales by approving its first medical marijuana dispensary, while Ascend Fort Lee kicked off medical cannabis sales on Friday with the intent to also expand to adult weed.
The application by Eastern Green Inc. was approved on Wednesday by the Voorhees Township Planning Board for medical marijuana sales to commence, Mario Dinatale, Acting Township Administrator and Director of Community Economic Development, confirmed.
“The Township Committee, through our investigation ... located several potential areas in town that we thought the sale of cannabis would apply, and the site this company selected was one of those sites,” Dinatale told NJ Advance Media.
Dinatale said the township has five licenses for cannabis retail sales, and that Eastern Green, a company based out of Monroe Township, was the first to get approved by the Planning Board for a medical dispensary.
