An applicant for the first cannabis dispensary that would open in Springfield will give formal testimony to the Planning Board in August.
In advance of that, the Springfield Planning Board held an informal discussion of the applicant at its Monday, July 11 Zoom meeting.
An applicant is being considered to open a dispensary at 130 Route 22, to fill a vacancy in a multi-tenant space that also houses Advance Auto Parts and Touka, a Japanese hibachi restaurant.
"There are several classes of businesses," said Mike Disko, Springfield's director of engineering. "This is a Class 5, or a retail. It has to meet buffers from schools, playgrounds, residential zones, and it does that. ... The location of this is appropriate to the business."
