On Wednesday, the city council voted 8-1 to approve an ordinance that will tighten the current zoning laws for medical and recreational marijuana stores, with only Council President Mike Russo opposed to the measure.
The changes will:
- Allow only six dispensaries citywide and no more than three per ward
- Prohibit cannabis businesses from being located with 600 feet in all directions of a school or directly adjacent to an early childhood learning facility
- Exclude them from the C-3 commercial zone
- Require applicants before the citys Cannabis Review Board to notice neighbors within 200 feet about the proposed location
