Sufferers of chronic pain, cancer patients, people with post-traumatic stress disorder or substance abuse are just some of the people who would be helped by a proposed marijuana dispensary and wellness center, according to LBI Cannabis.
The organization's leadership team, which met with residents Wednesday, hopes to open a dispensary by Memorial Day on the north end of Beach Haven, if they are able to obtain a state dispensary license as well as approvals from borough officials.
"Our concept is more than a dispensary," said Matt Bekelja, LBI Cannabis's branding specialist and a resident of Beach Haven.
A sample of medical marijuana is shown during a pro-legalization rally in 2019 at the New Jersey Statehouse.
Under LBI Cannabis's plan, a percentage of profits from the sale of adult use cannabis would fund low- and no-cost health and wellness programs and recovery services.
