The Borough Council is looking to ban all cannabis businesses for now but plans on getting input from residents in November as to whether the businesses should be allowed in commercial zones.
The council earlier this week introduced two ordinances, which were unanimously approved on first reading.
The first would ban all classes of cannabis establishments, distributors and delivery services from operating here, but not the delivery of cannabis items and related supplies by a delivery service from elsewhere. The ordinance also would prohibit alternative treatment centers or medical marijuana facilities from operating in the borough.
The second would place a nonbinding referendum question, "Shall the Borough of Milltown allow 'Class 5 Cannabis Retailer' as a permitted use within the B-4 Highway Strip Commercial Zone and the B-5 Highway Strip Commercial Zone?" on the Nov. 2 general election ballot.
