Borough officials are taking a wait-and-see approach to determine if cannabis businesses will be permitted in town sometime in the future.
In the meantime, the borough will be voting Monday on an ordinance to prohibit any recreational marijuana businesses within the Brainy Borough borders.
The council meeting and public hearing on the ordinance is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at the Metuchen Borough Council Chambers, 500 Main St.
The ordinance would ban the six classes of licenses allowed for recreational marijuana in New Jersey - cultivation, manufacture, wholesale, distributor, retailer and delivery.
Metuchen joins several other towns which also have banned recreational marijuana businesses.
