In an email in response to the warning, Sam Gindi, CEO of NJGreenDirect.com, stressed that the online business “does not sell cannabis, we never have and will not until we get a license. We are an entertainment site that strongly advocates for the legalization of cannabis,” he said.
Calling the entire premise of the letter legally wrong,” Gindi said, “We do not accept payments on our website, don’t specify a total, (and) on the site it states that no cannabis products are for sale.”
While NJGreenDirect.com recommends cannabis products to pair with its cookies on its website, none of them featured on the site are for sale. “However, our delivery drivers may decide to include a sample for you to enjoy with your favorite cookies,” according to its homepage.
Payment is accepted at the time of delivery, and the purchaser must present identification showing proof of age of 21 of older, which is also needed at the time of placing a cookie order for the first time, the website states.
Cookie prices range from $55 to $100, with a required minimum purchase of $110.
“The cannabis gift is not central to a transaction, as there is no transaction, and no gift is guaranteed,” Gindi said. “We plan to continue to do what we’ve been doing (and) strongly maintain nothing is illegal.”
