In an effort to keep it "a family town," the Township Council approved an ordinance that prohibits marijuana businesses from operating here.
A public hearing and final vote were held at Thursday night's township Council meeting. The measure passed by a vote of 5-0 vote. Due to telephone technical difficulties, two councilmembers' votes were unable to be recorded.
“By making the right choice in banning these stores, the Township Council continues to ensure that Piscataway remains a family town for children to be raised and an attractive community for large corporations and mom & pop shops to locate,” Mayor Brian C. Wahler said in a statement. "People who use cannabis, especially those for medical reasons, can still get it through the mail and in other towns in the county.”
