The City of Lambertville Cannabis Work Group wants to hear from all Lambertville Residents!
Why? The City of Lambertville needs to make important decisions and take action as to whether we as a city want to permit or not permit any or all parts of the Cannabis Industry from operating in our community.
A little history on this is as follows:
- On November 3, 2020, the State of New Jersey held a public question as part of the 2020 general election on the legalization of the possession and use of marijuana for persons over the age of 21. The citizens of Lambertville passed this question overwhelmingly by a vote of 2,233 (81.38%) to 511 (18.62%).
- In February 2021, Governor Murphy signed three bills related to the public question on cannabis into law and established the Cannabis Regulatory Commission. The CRC has the power to regulate the purchase, sale, cultivation, manufacturing, packaging, transportation, and delivery of “cannabis” items. It also has the power to grant, refuse, suspend, revoke, and limit licenses or conditional licenses.
- By August 22, 2021 – the municipalities of NJ need to establish the proper ordinances to either allow, not allow, or have a hybrid mix of these businesses become part of our community.
This is where you come in! We would like to hear your input and want to do this by conducting two Public Forums (one via Zoom and the other in person at the Justice Complex). During these Forums we would like your opinions, but we also want to answer any questions that you may have as well. Additionally, we would like you to complete a short survey that will help us to quantify your views as residents of the City of Lambertville.
