The ordinance is being introduced May 4. This is called “the first reading.” There will be a public hearing on Jun 1,2021 as a part of that Board of Commissioners meeting.
Local business owner Neil Henning stated “If Cannabis business’ are allowed to do business in the state of NJ there is no good reason to have this ordinance in Nutley.”
Karen O'Malley brought up the November election results and stated “The county definitely voted overwhelmingly in support of the measure. The best and only course of action IMO, is to go with those election results in this matter.”
James Mazza added his 2%, um 2 cents "On one hand complain that taxes are so high and not know how to fix it. On the other ban businesses that you can charge an additional 2% tax rate on to help the township. Makes sense."
“Great idea, pass on needed tax revenue and then all the people who are buying will drive a few minutes to surrounding towns and buy it there.” stated Anthony Staropoli.
Nicole Gallagher wrote “Dumb. We can’t fill our storefronts but let’s turn away businesses. Poor choice, Commissioners.”
