Raritan Borough is continuing to hold off on discussions regarding allowing medical marijuana facilities in the borough, as the state’s decision on legalizing marijuana has not yet gone through.
Mayor Charles McMullin said there was a call for a study in June 2018, and the planning board began looking into whether the borough should allow for medical marijuana facilities in town if it were to become legal in New Jersey.
“The planning board went through a process, and I believe it was in September or October that the state of New Jersey failed to pass an authorization for the rules for permitting medical or recreational marijuana,” he said.
At this point, McMullin said, the planning board has ceased its study pending the passage of any legislation regarding marijuana and publication of rules.
