Democratic leaders in the New Jersey legislature say they are “real close” to holding hearings on the legalization of adult-use cannabis, NJBIZ.com reports.
Senate President Stephen Sweeney (D-District 3) said on Monday he has been coordinating the issue with Sen. Nicholas Scutari (D-District 22), the leading cannabis advocate in New Jersey’s legislature.
Despite a complicated November schedule which includes the midterm elections, Sen. Scutari told reporters that he was eyeing November 26 for a cannabis legalization legislative hearing.
Lawmakers had initially sought to vote on the issue on Monday but hangups over taxation rates, what to do about prior cannabis convictions, and which regulatory agency would oversee the industry ultimately delayed the vote.

In my town in Southern Jersey
In my town in Southern Jersey, Bridgeton has to wait again until the 26th of November to approve Recreational Marijuana use with deliveries, as well as Storefronts? I heard of a unanimously YES for Approval. Also, Cumberland County has had Vineland approved along with Millville, which has the 1st South Jersey Indoor Grow Marijuana Facility on N. 10th street! The Bill backed up due to "Racial Disparities" which explains the reason for having Home Grow. Each time we get pushed back, this being the 4th time, the more Expansion of Marijuana and the NJMMP, explained Gov. Murphy. I am excited and believe it will continue to Thrive the state with new types of jop openings, less crime, less opiate/opiod addictions, and even talk about Lower Tax On Property due to Legalization ! I believe it is the right thing to do. Plus we need a Change!
