Recreational marijuana sales in New Jersey are expected to start in a couple of weeks. The state’s Cannabis Regulatory Commission on Monday approved seven medical marijuana dispensaries for adult-use sales. These locations will be the first sites to sell recreational cannabis to adults 21 years old and older.
Before these locations can begin selling, they still have to complete a few more steps, including inspections and paying fees. There isn’t a set date for when residents can buy marijuana yet, but once dispensaries finish their process, they can begin sales.
Rise Dispensaries have opened a medical marijuana dispensary in Paramus, making it the second Rise location in New Jersey.
Parent company Green Thumb Industries said the profits from the first day of sales will be donated to the Paramus Children's Health Foundation, which provides "financial support to families of children who suffer from a severe illness or injury that results in economic hardship."
Green Thumb Industries Inc. opened its second Rise dispensary in New Jersey in Paramus on March 16.
Its first location in Paterson opened in December 2019. It was the first 2018 Request for Applications awardee to open a retail location. In total, GTI operated 54 dispensaries nationwide.
