The only Agenda item on the meeting was to review and discuss the regulation of cannabis businesses within the borough as defined by Ordinance 2021-17.
Several council members voiced their concern that they did not receive the draft until 2:00pm on the day of the special meeting.
Councilman John Jackson said, “We looked at this draft and developed it not only with Red Bank in mind. We looked at what our neighbors had done in terms of ordinances, municipalities and tried to right-size the (cannabis) business including the number of licenses, given our size.”
Councilman Ballard who chairs a committee on the cannabis issue said, “This is not a final introduction for an ordinance. This is only a working document so that we can have this meeting to get the other council people not on the committee, to get their and the public’s input.”
