The big fireworks over the possible opening of one or more cannabis dispensaries in Princeton have been expected to occur at the Princeton Council meeting Tuesday, March 29.
But some of the explosives could be dampened by the Princeton Board of Health, which is expected to consider a resolution calling for Council to defer action on the dispensary ordinance pending further study of health implications. On Tuesday, March 8, at 7:30 p.m., the Board of Health will hold its regular monthly meeting, and the “Health Impacts of Recreational Cannabis Legalization” will be on its agenda, under old business.
At last month’s Board of Health meeting several members of the “Stop Pot Shops” group urged the board to take a public stand against a potential dispensary in Princeton. At that February 8 meeting the Board of Health created an ad hoc workgroup to discuss the issues and present the Board its findings, and any specific recommendations, on March 8, which can be attended via Zoom.
