Traffic, environmental concerns, security, odors. These concerns topped the list when over 200 residents of Alexandria Township, a rural community in Hunterdon County, attended a Township Committee meeting Dec. 8 to voice concerns about a proposed medical marijuana facility.
“I will repeat again, although I believe many of you are now aware, that this facility has not been approved, nor have any cannabis operations been permitted in this township via ordinance,” Mayor Gabe Plumer told the crowd of some 265 gathered at the Delaware Valley Regional High School’s cafetorium. “The Land Use Board is going to begin the discussion on whether or not cannabis operations should be permitted in the township and if so, where and how.”
The land use board is meeting at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, also in the high school’s cafetorium, to begin those discussions.
