There was, however, a disappointing dearth of Jay and Silent Bob-themed responses — same with Harold and Kumar, the Hoboken roommates who took their weed-fueled quest for White Castle up and down Jersey in 2004.
Later, “Clerks” director Kevin Smith remedied that by delivering a message from the guys themselves.
“Jay & Silent Bob have asked me to make a statement on their behalf on this historic day,” he tweeted. “‘You took away our f---in’ livelihood!’ Excuse them. Eventually, they’ll be thankful to you and the voters of New Jersey for both legalization and decriminalization. I thank you all too!”
Later, Smith said the cinematic duo would be presiding over their own New Jersey weed store in “Clerks III.”
