Demko, the Clifton resident, said he buys his medical marijuana at the Secaucus dispensary. But sometimes the lines there are two hours long and the center runs out of marijuana, Demko said.
Rise Paterson, which is owned by Green Thumb Industries, is growing its marijuana supply at an old industrial building in South Paterson. But those plants have not yet matured enough to produce cannabis for Rise Paterson’s customers, company officials said. For the first four months, Rise Paterson will get its marijuana from a company called Curaleaf, which operates a dispensary in South Jersey.
Some South Paterson residents have raised objections to having the marijuana growing facility in their part of the city. But so far, there hasn’t been any neighborhood opposition to the distribution center, officials said.
“The location is good because it’s on the outskirts of the neighborhood,” said Councilman William McKoy, who represents the 3rd Ward where the dispensary is located.
