Oh, pity poor Governor Phil Murphy. He came into office with so many plans, and so little has really been accomplished.
The most glaring example, of course, is marijuana. He said he was going to get it legalized in New Jersey quicker than you can say “hey, don’t bogart that joint, man,” but, of course, we’re still as far away from legalization as we were before.
So the question remains: We the legislature ever vote to legalize weed? My answer? Yes, yes they will, once all the other hoo-ha is taken care of. And by “hoo-ha,” I mean Murphy agreeing to everything else his party wants.
Murphy and Senate President Steve Sweeney are at loggerheads. Murphy is the way progressive Democrat, Sweeney and the rest of the party are practically Whitman-era Republicans at this point. They disagree on plenty.
