The South Orange Village Board of Trustees voted at a special meeting on August 20 to approve “Resolution Supporting the Expansion of the New Jersey Compassionate Use Medical Marijuana Act,” allowing for a potential Alternative Treatment Center (“ATC”) to be located in the Village.
Any such center would be regulated under the New Jersey Compassionate Use Medical Marijuana Act (N.J.S.A 24:6I-1 et seq.), if granted a license by the State of New Jersey Department of Health, according to an announcement of the meeting from Village President Sheena Collum. Collum noted, “As indicated within the resolution, we may proscribe, without limitation, appropriate restrictions that we deem necessary and such permitted use would be subject to any and all municipal ordinances and land use restrictions.”
